Westin Kierland Resort
The Kierland resort hotel was programmed to become the largest convention-focused resort hotel in the market at the time and represented a next-generation offering of this product type. The hotel’s setting resulted from a master plan that included extensive mass grading of a flat desert site and creating an enveloping golf environment to set the stage. The entitlements for this property included a mid-rise zoning overlay at the heart of the 730-acre master plan, which was the largest rezoning in Phoenix history at the time.
